If you are booking a South Lake Tahoe vacation rental for New Years, you couldn’t have picked a better place. Lake Tahoe provides outdoor recreation by day and some amazing nightlife in the evening, no matter what time of year it is. The holidays in Lake Tahoe comes with a certain type of magic, but it also comes with some things to know in order to make sure your trip is a trip to remember for good reasons. If you are joining us for this action packed holiday, here is everything you need to know.
1.) There is TONS to do! No matter where your South Lake Tahoe vacation rental is located, you are minutes away from fun options for ringing in the New Year. MTV’s SnowGlobe is one of the most popular options and draws THOUSANDS of visitors. The Heavenly Holidays features a gondola drop and live music. The entire portion of HWY 50 in front of the casinos is shut down through midnight for partiers to play in the streets and celebrate. If you want a more low key evening, local restaurants offer special menus that are not only delicious, but usually come with a champagne toast.
2.) There is TONS of traffic. Obviously with extra people, comes extra cars. So be patient and know that everyone is just trying to get to and from safely. If you are attending SnowGlobe, there are shuttle options available for concert goers. If you are imbibing in other party activities, use Lyft, Uber or a cab. Just know that getting one can take a long time, so call with more advance notice than usual and expect surge pricing. Also, if there is a storm, give yourself extra time on top of that. The local police do have check points on holidays so don’t risk driving even if you think you are fine. All of our South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals are within minutes from the fun so it isn’t worth driving when you shouldn’t over surge pricing or waiting 30 extra minutes.
3.) Obey your South Lake Tahoe vacation rental rules. Ordinances were put into place to protect residences and vacation homeowners from property damage, loud noises, parking issues and other things that come with renting out properties in residential neighborhoods on a short term basis. We know that entertaining and a “more the merrier” mentality is way more fun on New Years Eve, however if you go over the allotted guest limit for beds and parking, you can not only get a hefty fine, but so can the homeowner. Additionally, in some cases, police can show up, which is no way to end the year or start a new one. So make smart decisions and treat the vacation rental in South Lake Tahoe with the same respect you would your own home and neighborhood.
4.) If you are driving to your vacation rental in South Lake Tahoe, make sure your car is prepared for snowy road conditions. Pack chains, water, wireless charging devices, extra food and all the things you could possibly need incase you are stuck on the highway for a bit getting in and out of town. Also consider leaving at times that most people are not. This could mean leaving a day later or earlier than most travelers do whether you are coming in or going out of town.
Our goal here at Pinnacle Lake Tahoe Getaways is making sure our community, our guests and our homeowners are all taken care of.
