When it comes to booking vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe, there are some things to keep in mind when looking for lodging. We have covered the perks of vacation rentals, what to bring, what to consider and more in prior blogs, but this blog covers some cool, off the beaten path details you may not know about staying in South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals.
-If you want room to spread out, but the amenities of a hotel like a pool, fitness center and hot tub, consider vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe with an HOA.
-You aren’t just limited to AirBnb. Yes, they get a lot more coverage, but there is HomeAway, VRBO and several local vacation rental management companies. Going this route keeps you secure and protected from fraud (usually) and also gives you more options.
-You can book some REALLY unique properties or some vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe with some pretty cool views and close proximity to local favorites.
-Don’t limit yourself by placing a bunch of filters on your search. You may miss out on cool South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals that are within your price range and available during the desired dates.
However, as many perks as South Lake Tahoe vacation properties have, keep the following in mind to ensure a good experience. Some websites aren’t required to include specific details the way a local South Lake Tahoe vacation rental management company has to.
-The owners may not be updating their listings. This could be things like amenities, availability calendars, photos and more. Be sure to confirm all details are correct upon booking by shooting an email over or calling the management company.
-The sleep numbers may be misleading. The owner could be including sofas, pull outs and cots. So if you NEED a certain number of beds, confirm that first. Also consider that some bedrooms may not be real bedrooms. They could be in a large walk in or divided by a bedroom or makeshift wall.
-If you can’t tell from photos, make sure the kitchen is an actual kitchen and not a kitchenette. A spare sink and microwave probably isn’t what a large group has in mind when booking South Lake Tahoe vacation properties.
-South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals have several laws in place to keep both renters and local neighbors happy. Be sure to find out about parking, the noise ordinance and more before throwing a rager and telling everyone they can park on the street.
-Most of our vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe leave out items for renters to use. However, finding out before you go what recreational items are available for use, such as paddle boards, bikes, etc. can help you plan accordingly.
-If things aren’t working the way they should, know the number ahead of time to call in the event of an emergency or a maintenance need.
-Some South Lake Tahoe vacation rental properties are not legal. Find out first if yours has a permit. You’d hate to fork over money only to have law enforcement show up.
