After the epic winter we had….errr….are still having? Yes, we had snow this month. The lake level is the highest it has been in years, which after the drought we couldn’t be more thrilled. So how can you make the most of your summer and get out on the lake? We have plenty of ideas and for all of those ideas you can find the right gear on HumberSport.net along with reviews. If you are staying at a vacation rental in South Lake Tahoe, you are in luck because most of our South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals are located close to beaches and/or the Upper Truckee River. So get out the SPF and beach gear and get ready for a day in the water with these activities.
Boat
South Lake Tahoe has multiple marinas conveniently located close to our vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe where you can rent boats and jet skis. Ski Run, Timber Cove, Round Hill Pines, Camp Rich and Lakeside offer a variety of rentals. Already have your own boat? Once you have done the Tahoe Boat Inspection (Yes, it is required), you can launch at El Dorado Beach, Cave Rock, Sand Harbor or one of the private Lakeside Marina or Tahoe Keys Marina. You can also tie up and use a water taxi to one of the many restaurants around the lake. Find more options here.
Cruise
Not interested in being captain for the day? No problem. Our South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals also give you quick access to the cruises available throughout the day. The M.S Dixie is an authentic paddle wheeler that has a dinner cruise with live music as well as Emerald Bay Tours. If you want something quicker, the Rum Runner Cruise from Camp Richardson is a summer time favorite.
Paddle
Whether on a paddle board or a paddle boat, you should refer to comparison of inflatable sups and see that, you have options if high powered engines aren’t your thing. Especially if you prefer staying close to shore AND getting a work out. Be sure to ask if your South Lake Tahoe vacation rental already has these items on hand. If not, you can rent from various businesses on the South Shore or at some of the local beaches.
Float
That big floating unicorn you can’t wait to use will look majestic on the shores of Lake Tahoe! Just be sure to stay close enough to shore that you won’t have issues getting back. The best part of renting a vacation home in South Lake Tahoe is the room to store these items without having to deflate after each use.
Other summer time favorites are kayaking, swimming or simply laying out and soaking up the blue skies and warm temps. Remember to play it safe this summer. After this winter, the water level is high and it may move fast in certain areas (like the Truckee River) so use your smarts and sit out if the conditions don’t seem favorable. If you aren’t a strong swimmer, bring that life jacket along just to be on the safe side.
