It seems this summer has blurred by rather quickly this year. We aren’t quite sure if it is because we had such a long winter, or if we have just been having too much fun. As time seems to fly when you are. Regardless, the end of summer is FAST approaching, and if you have booked a Lake Tahoe vacation rental for Labor Day weekend, you are likely trying to figure out how to send off summer with a bang during your trip. Luckily, being a world class destination and all, we have quite a few things to do as well as plenty of events for what is considered the final summer send off.
Labor Day Tent Sale, 9/1 – 9/4
This is an annual event that happens every single year (for the past 31 years!) on this weekend. This is your chance to get some amazing deals on all things snow gear and clothes. Head up to Heavenly’s California lodge and get up to 70% off some of the most popular brands in the industry. This is great for a little back to school clothes shopping too. The best part is that if you are staying at a South Lake Tahoe vacation rental in Heavenly Valley or one of the two Bijou neighborhoods, you could basically walk there if you wanted.
Thin-Air Chili Cook Off at Kirkwood, 9/2
Another annual event that happens every year during this time is the Thin Air Chili Cook Off at Kirkwood. Come sample various kinds of chili, wine, beer and enjoy live music and fun activities for the kids. This event benefits the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department as well. Plus, the drive from your South Lake Tahoe vacation rental to Kirkwood is a gorgeous adventure in itself!
Labor Day Lasers at Lakeview, 9/3
If you love going to the Thursday Live at Lakeview Commons, you will not want to miss the Labor Day Lasers at Lakeview. There will be a DJ, various vendors and of course the food trucks and beer garden. Not to mention, can you imagine a laser show on the lake? We are pretty excited for this one!
Eric Church at Harveys Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena, 9/2 & 9/3
It wouldn’t be labor day weekend without a major headliner at the Harvey’s Lake Tahoe Outdoor arena, now would it? Country music singer/songwriter Eric Church will be performing two nights! If you haven’t gone to a summer concert yet, this is a must! Our tip is to cab it from your vacation rental in South Lake Tahoe, as parking can be a bit tricky. When the concert gets out, go enjoy some gaming at the casinos, grab a burger from Lucky Beaver and then cab it back to your vacation rental in South Lake Tahoe.
Heavenly Village Midway Art & Music Festival, 9/1-9/3
This weekend long event is a family friendly good time with a carnival, performers, car show, art show and two live music stages!
Other activities happening this weekend will include a Summer Luau at the Beach Retreat & Lodge, Heavenly Village Labor Day Car Show and Extreme Midget Wrestling at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. Of course if you are coming into town to just enjoy the beaches, trails and fresh mountain air, we completely understand. If you have any questions or needs in regards to a vacation rental in South Lake Tahoe, let us know! We would be happy to help.
