We are all patiently waiting for travel restriction in Lake Tahoe to ease up so we can enjoy at least a bit of our summer vacation. You may have some of the usual things planned once it is finely safe, whether that is a beach day, mountain biking or a fun hike. Or you may be wanting to find something a little bit different to do while still enjoying the beauty of the Sierra Nevada’s. Here are a few things to try that offer easy access from one of our many Lake Tahoe Vacation Rentals!
If you love going to church on Sundays but aren’t sure where to go, there are plenty of churches of all kinds of faith close to our Lake Tahoe vacation rentals. If you want something a bit more “Outdoorsy”, Fallen Leaf Chapel, officially known as St. Francis of the Mountains, is a cozy, one of a kind little church tucked away in the Tahoe trees. Everyone is welcome, though it is only open in the summertime. Due to Covid-19, that could be delayed so find out prior to visiting what the hours are. The unique architecture in the midst of nature alone is worth the trip, but the facts and information you find inside adds some serious bonus points making it a must.
If you are staying at Lake Tahoe vacation rentals close to the Nevada side, Cave Rock is one of the best spots for a sunset or sunrise view of the lake and the biggest perk is that the path is short. While being perched atop gives you a seriously beautiful vantage point, one of the most unique ways to view this is from the water. The Washoe Tribe considered Cave Rock to be sacred and home of their Guardian Spirit, which is how this landmark became to be known as the Lady of the Lake. In fact, if you look at it from the South, you can make out the features of a lady. It is definitely a great way to view both the lake and a historic landmark.
Speaking of vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side, Zephyr Cove has some super fun recreation options that allow you to do social distancing and enjoy this popular summer spot. You can rent kayaks, paddle boards or go parasailing or fishing.
Want to actually be in the depths of the lake? Emerald Bay has an underwater state park that scuba divers love. It is home to the nation’s largest small sunken boats, giving divers some diverse underwater scenery. Of course, due to the cold temperatures and remote location, this is an activity meant for experts who practice safe diving practices.
While you are in this neck of the woods, The Tallac Historic Site is a great stopping point on your back to vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe. This was home to some of California’s wealthiest and most successful entrepreneurs back in the roaring 20’s. Once home to a 74 acre resort with three large estates, Pope Beach, Baldwin Beach and Valhalla Estates are now open to the public in different ways. The historic site itself has great events in the summers while the beaches are now enjoyed by locals and visitors. Parking can be an issue in the summertime, so be aware that going earlier is the best for securing a spot or try carpooling or bike riding along the trails. Lake Tahoe is filled with so much history and there is truly something for everyone. For more information on vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe, feel free to reach out to us. We’d be happy to help!
